About Revenge of the Jedi
- Overview
-
Revenge of the Jedi MUD is a free, multiplayer telnet text-based role-playing game that is actively maintained, operated, and funded by a small community.
The game expands as builders write new zones to be explored with puzzles to be solved.
You make a character and develop them as you see fit: you do whatever you want to within the bounds of the game.
Since this only requires telnet, it can be played from virtually any computer with Internet access.
Started as a dorm room server by the admins in December of 1995 and still being played today.
- Gameplay
-
Once you connect, you either login to an existing character or make a new one.
From this point you enter the game and begin to run around.
Collect items to buy, sell, auction, or trade.
Gain experience by killing mobiles and completing quests.
Spend this experience on gaining levels for new abilities.
Or, spend your experience training your stats (strength/dexterity/intelligence/quickness/wisdom/charisma) or your weapon proficiency.
-
Running around in groups lets you leverage your abilities via teamwork.
Combined skills let you go further and faster than you would solo.
Grouping with a Jedi can bring focus and speed to your group's combat.
Having a Medic nearby will keep everyone's hitpoints high enough to keep fighting without having to rest.
Technicians bring automated droids as followers into the picture.
Smugglers can track, steal, and poison your enemies as well as locate equipment.
Bounty Hunters bring zeal to the combat with a barrage of skills for fighting with tactics.
-
If that doesn't interest you much, there is also an entire space system which you can play in.
Pilot a spaceship, arm it with weaponry, and go dogfight some TIE fighters.
Build your own personal ship using the best components in the galaxy.
Jump through hyperspace to visit other planets or space areas.
-
You can have as many characters as you can manage.
You only play one at a time, and can play with as many of your friends as you like.
At any time of day there is always someone playing as this is a 24/7 server with people from all over the world.
Your character has a primary class, secondary class, tertiary class, and a pilot class.
Each of those class choices is up to you.
Even past that, many of the classes have subguilds you can specialize in once a class has been leveled high enough.
